DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 006 replaces the Tuareg 660's headlight in the circuit so the panel reports nothing with the lamp gone.
Key Features
- Aprilia Tuareg 660 (2021–2026)
- Replaces the headlight in the circuit
- No lamp failure warning on the panel
- Plugs into Aprilia's own connector
- Needed once a race fairing goes on
- Standard light refits at any time
A Rally Tower Instead
Competition Tuaregs carry a navigation tower where the headlight was, with roadbook, tripmeter and a different screen. The standard lighting has nowhere to go.
The Circuit Is Monitored
Current through the headlight loop is measured continuously. An absent lamp produces a warning that stays until the circuit is answered.
Answering It Properly
The eliminator supplies the load the controller expects, so nothing appears on the display and nothing is stored.
Two Hundred and Four Kilograms
Wet, which is light for a twin-cylinder adventure bike. Aprilia resisted adding mass and the Tuareg is considerably better off tarmac as a result.
Eighty Horsepower
Retuned for torque low down rather than for a peak figure. On difficult ground that is the only part of the powerband anybody uses.
Weight High and Forward
A headlight assembly sits above and ahead of the steering axis, which is the worst place on any motorcycle to carry it and worse still on loose ground.
Minutes
Aprilia's own connector with no adapters and nothing to cut.
Nothing Spliced
The loom stays as the factory built it, which matters a long way from a dealer.
Reversible
The standard headlight refits whenever the bike returns to the road.
Competition Only
Removing the headlight ends road legality in every European market.
An Eighteen Litre Tank
Enough for four hundred kilometres away from any fuel station, which is the number that decides whether an adventure bike is genuinely useful or merely styled that way. Aprilia sized it for the distances the Tuareg was meant to cover.
Switchable Rear ABS
The system can be turned off at the back and returns at the next ignition cycle, which is exactly the wrong behaviour on a competition bike and perfectly sensible on a road one. It is the clearest illustration of why rally preparation goes further than the switch allows.
