DescriptionThe whole story▼
A supercharged Z H2 and a naturally aspirated Z900 have very little in common, and one noise damper covers both. That follows from the exhaust rather than the engine — Akrapovic uses a shared silencer outlet across the two, and a restrictor is dimensioned to the outlet.
Key Features
- Fits both the supercharged Z H2 and the Z900
- Made for the Slip-On Line (Titanium) S-K10SO26-ASZSSBL
- That system is not in the current price list — confirm compatibility
- Ten model years covered by one part number
- Akrapovic publishes no decibel figure for it
Two Very Different Kawasakis
The Z H2 carries a supercharged 998 cc four making around 200 PS. The Z900 is a 948 cc naturally aspirated machine at about 125 PS, and it is one of the most common naked bikes in Germany.
What they share is the diameter and mounting of the Akrapovic silencer outlet, which is all a noise insert cares about. That is why a single part serves two motorcycles that are otherwise unrelated.
Confirm the Silencer First
Akrapovic names S-K10SO26-ASZSSBL, and that slip-on is not in the price list this shop buys from. Several other Akrapovic silencers for the Z900 and Z H2 are.
Whether this insert suits one of them is a question the distributor can answer from data the public catalogue does not carry. On a close-tolerance part it is not a question to answer by assumption.
Why a Z900 Owner Would Want One
Track days. The Z900 is a common choice for novice sessions and club events, and those are precisely the venues that measure static noise at the gate and enforce the result without discussion.
A titanium slip-on on a 948 cc four is not a quiet exhaust, and a removable restrictor is the cheapest route to compliance for the two or three days a year it is needed.
No Published Effect
Akrapovic states no decibel figure. Nothing is estimated on this page — an insert's effect varies with the system, the engine and the measurement method, and only a reading taken on the actual motorcycle is worth anything.
Ten Model Years
The fitment spans 2017 to 2026, which covers the whole life of the current Z900 and the Z H2 from its 2020 launch. That is broad coverage for a small part, and it follows from Kawasaki keeping the silencer mounting consistent.
In and Out With Hand Tools
Nothing permanent. The insert bolts into the outlet, and removing it restores the exhaust exactly as it was — which is the point of an optional restrictor rather than a quieter silencer.
Optional
The slip-on is complete without it. This exists for the specific case of a venue that requires a lower reading than the exhaust delivers as supplied.
Road Approval
Not applicable in the usual sense. A noise insert addresses a circuit's static limit; whether the motorcycle is road legal rests with the silencer and its own approval.
