DescriptionThe whole story▼
An early start on a BMW R1250RS usually means leaving in the cold. The half fairing keeps the worst of the wind off, the distance passes easily, and by lunchtime the same rider is in shirtsleeve weather in another valley. Brakes notice that swing more than the rider does. Accossato lists the AGPA177 in the Sintered (ST) compound for the R1250RS of 2019 to 2024, a material credited with a constant level of grip whether it is cold or hot, and with holding up when the disc is wet.
Key Features
- Front brake pads for the BMW R1250RS, model years 2019 to 2024
- AGPA177ST: the sintered member of this pad family
- Accossato claims a steady grip level across the temperature range and in the wet
- Two pads per box, which is what one caliper holds
- The RS has a caliper on each front disc, so the axle takes two boxes
- EV1, EV2 and ZXC are the other materials on this shape
- AGPA92 sits at the rear of the same machine, DK006 is the listed disc
- No German ABE on record; sold for circuit and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Four materials share the AGPA177 plate and this article number is the sintered member of the set. Accossato sums it up in a line: grip that stays at the same level across the temperature range and does not disappear in the wet. A sports tourer tests such a claim properly, since one journey can begin on a cold, damp valley road and finish after an hour of fast riding with the discs thoroughly warm. Slow wear is part of the bargain as well, which matters on a machine whose owner counts distance rather than weekends. Each box fills one caliper with two pads.
From a Cold Dawn to a Warm Afternoon
Long days on a faired bike have a rhythm of their own. The first hour is spent in gloves that are too thin, with cold tyres and cold pads, and the rider brakes early and gently because nothing on the machine is ready yet. By the middle of the day the pace is up, the brakes are used firmly into every junction, and heat comes and goes with the traffic. Riders who cover ground learn to read this. Give the brakes a light application or two at the start to bring some warmth into them, leave more room than feels necessary while the road is still damp with dew, and stop for fuel before the reserve light rather than after, because a tired rider brakes late. Keep the discs clear of chain lubricant and the wet-weather behaviour looks after itself.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's entry for this pad names the R1250RS from 2019 to 2024 and nothing earlier or later. On the front wheel there is a caliper for each disc, which makes two boxes for a complete change; do both sides in the same session and bed the new material in over the first few stops. The AGPA92 is the pad listed at the back of the RS, and the DK006 is the disc for this model, while EV1, EV2 and ZXC carry the same shape into faster company.
Road Approval
The AGPA177ST comes to us without a German ABE and without any test document, so nothing on file covers it for public roads. We sell it for closed circuits and competition.
