DescriptionThe whole story▼
For many owners of a Ducati Diavel 1260 S, the riding year ends in late autumn, when the bike is wheeled into the garage until spring. How it is put away decides a good deal about the state of its brakes a few months later. Accossato's DK053, a floating front disc for the Diavel 1260 S of 2019 to 2023, measures 320 mm with a thickness of 4.5 mm, sits on a black carrier and, according to the supplier, exchanges directly for the original.
Key Features
- Floating front disc for the Ducati Diavel 1260 S, 2019 to 2023
- 320 mm outer diameter, 72 mm inner diameter
- 4.5 mm thick
- Friction ring on rivets, black carrier
- Interchangeable with the disc fitted by Ducati
- Minimum thickness printed on the disc as a replacement limit
- Priced per disc; two are fitted to the front wheel
- No German ABE documented; intended for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The DK053 is assembled from a friction ring and a black carrier. Rivets connect the two with a small, deliberate clearance, which lets the ring expand when it gets hot and keeps it centred between the pads, while the 72 mm bore locates the disc on the wheel. Accossato explains its approach to discs through racing: its experience comes from Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3, and the company says it picks materials and sets tolerances with that background. On the disc you will find the minimum working thickness, printed by Accossato as a plain limit for replacement.
Laying Up for Winter
Washing the Diavel 1260 S before storage is sensible, but do it early enough to ride the bike dry afterwards. Water left between pads and discs, followed by weeks in a cold garage, is what leaves a crust of rust on the rings and can make pads stick. A short ride with a few firm stops after the wash dries everything out. Keep chain spray and polish well away from the wheels, and if you use a cover, let the bike cool before it goes on. Storage time is also the moment to measure the discs: if they are close to the printed minimum, order replacements over the winter and fit them before the first ride of the year.
Fitment and Compatibility
The Diavel 1260 S of 2019 to 2023 is on Accossato's list for the DK053. The 1260 S has two front discs and the price is for one, so plan on two for the complete front brake. Accossato's alternative is the DKS053, thicker but of the same diameter, and the EDF099 brake lever is listed for this model as well.
Road Approval
For the DK053, no German ABE and no type approval are on file. It is meant for the track and for competition.
