DescriptionThe whole story▼

On a Multistrada 1260 S with a quick shifter, the clutch lever can go almost untouched for an entire ride. Gear changes up and down happen with the foot alone, and the left hand only works when pulling away, stopping or manoeuvring. That is convenient, but it also means a change in the clutch's feel can go unnoticed for a long time. Accossato lists the FP007 for the Multistrada 1260 S from 2018 to 2020, the Pikes Peak and the Touring included: an aluminium cover for the clutch master cylinder reservoir, CNC-machined and anodised.

Key Features

  • Clutch master cylinder cover for the Ducati Multistrada 1260 S, 2018 to 2020
  • Pikes Peak and S Touring versions included
  • Designed for the original clutch master cylinder
  • CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
  • Six colours: blue, black, orange, red, silver, gold
  • TS003 front reservoir cap listed for the same bike
  • No German ABE on file; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato mills the FP007 from aluminium and anodises it, which gives the cover its colour: blue, black, orange, red, silver or gold. It is shaped for the original clutch master cylinders of the bikes on Accossato's list, so the Multistrada 1260 S keeps its factory hydraulic clutch and gains only a new reservoir lid. Before it goes on, inspect the seal or diaphragm under the old cover and replace it if it has become stiff or cracked.

When the Clutch Is Used Less

A clutch that is used less still ages. The fluid in its reservoir absorbs moisture whether the lever is pulled a thousand times a day or a dozen, which is why the owner's manual sets an interval for renewing it. On a bike with a quick shifter, make the clutch part of a regular check rather than waiting for a symptom. Every few weeks, with the engine off, pull the lever slowly and feel where the clutch begins to engage and whether the lever returns smoothly. Then turn the bars until the reservoir is level and look at the fluid: it should lie between the marks and look clear rather than brown. If you fit the FP007, cover the tank and the fairing first, because the fluid harms paint, and rinse off any splash straight away with water. Open the reservoir for as short a time as the job allows, fasten the cover gently and work the lever several times before starting the engine. A last test comes on the first ride of the Multistrada 1260 S: pull away gently, stop, pull away again. The take-up should feel exactly as you remember it. If you are not sure you remember it, that alone is a good reason to do this check more often.

Fitment and Compatibility

For the Multistrada 1260 S of 2018 to 2020, Accossato lists the FP007 with separate entries for the Pikes Peak and the S Touring, all with the original clutch master cylinder. At Inter-Pace the same cover is catalogued for the Multistrada 1260, the Multistrada 1200 Enduro and the Monster 1200 R. Accossato's TS003 front brake fluid reservoir cap is listed for this bike too. Please compare your bike with the application list before ordering.

Road Approval

Without an ABE or test mark on file for the FP007, we list it for motorsport and competition.
