DescriptionThe whole story▼
Seal head 16/46/34.3, Öhlins part number 05025-01. Seal kits gather the pieces one rebuild needs, which avoids a second order mid-job.
Key Features
- Inner Diameter 16 mm
- Original Öhlins service part
- Öhlins part number 05025-01
- Outer Diameter 46 mm
- Thickness 34.3 mm
Function
Öhlins gives it as 16 mm, 46 mm, 34.3 mm; nothing about that is approximate. A seal head combines the oil seal, the dust seal and the shaft bushing in one serviceable assembly. A weeping damper almost always starts here. A seal that has taken a set no longer springs back and starts to weep.
Why the Original
Rebuilding to specification only works if the parts are to specification — that starts here. Öhlins numbers every position so a workshop can order precisely what it needs, not a whole assembly. Service parts are ordered per piece unless stated otherwise. For a full rebuild, the seal kit plus the wear parts is usually the sensible order.
How to Be Sure It Fits
Order under 05025-01. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. inner diameter 16 mm, outer diameter 46 mm, thickness 34.3 mm is what distinguishes this number from its neighbours in the range. Öhlins recommends replacing seals whenever the unit is opened, not only when it leaks. Static seals and dynamic seals are not interchangeable even in the same size.
Fitting and Setup Service
A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.
