What It Is
This one measures 14.1 mm, 47 mm, 2 mm, and those figures are what separate it from the neighbouring numbers. Service parts make the difference between a damper that is rebuilt and one that is replaced. Replacement parts come from the same production as the components they go into. An original Öhlins service part, listed under its own number in the Öhlins spare parts catalogue.
Why the Original
Öhlins lists this part under its own number in the service catalogue so a workshop can order exactly what it needs. Öhlins is one of the few suspension makers that still supplies every position in the exploded view as a single part. Service parts are supplied per piece unless the description says otherwise. Where a number has been superseded, Öhlins states the replacement — we pass that on.
How to Be Sure It Fits
Order under 06231-02. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. The published dimensions are dimension a 14.1 mm, dimension b 47 mm, dimension c 2 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. Replacement parts come from the same production as the components they go into. Availability of individual parts is one reason Öhlins units stay in service for decades.
Fitting and Setup Service
Fitting service parts means opening a pressurised unit. As an authorised Öhlins service centre we do that here, with the right tools and a dyno check afterwards — just ask.
