One Machined Body
Ducati integrates the switches into the throttle housing. Both are renewed together here, plugged into the motorcycle's own connector with nothing spliced.
Semi-Active Öhlins
The S adjusts damping continuously from the inertial platform. On a short-wheelbase twin with 205 horsepower, the load moves faster than any fixed setting can follow.
The Final Edition
Ducati closed the line with a 1299 Final Edition carrying the R's engine and a 1299 Anniversario before it. Both were built in small numbers and both have held their value remarkably.
Sealed Elements
Contacts enclosed within the machined body. A track bike is washed hot after every session and the pressure washer is what finishes switchgear, not the laps.
A Cut Throttle Bore
Machined rather than formed, so the tube stays round and the sensor keeps reading the same angle for the same wrist movement across years.
Black Anodising
Converted into the metal. Against red bodywork and gold suspension it is the component that steps out of the conversation entirely.
Ergal 7075
Aerospace grade at roughly twice the strength of ordinary machined aluminium. It costs more to cut and it does not deform when the motorcycle goes over.
The End of an Era
The 1299 S was the last of Ducati's V-twin flagships before the V4 arrived. It closed a line that ran back to the 851 and values have reflected that ever since.
Ducati's Own Connector
Pre-wired, so the whole exchange is mechanical and reversible. Nothing needs coding and nothing is left in the diagnostics.
Brembo Stylema, Late On
The final 1299 S models carried Brembo's lighter monobloc caliper with revised internal cooling. It is a small change and it noticeably reduced the lever effort the front brake asked for, which on a motorcycle stopping from these speeds repeatedly is worth having.
