Aligned Bolts
One of the two mounting patterns, determined by the master cylinder clamp. A V2 is frequently upgraded there, which makes the check worth thirty seconds.
The Block Is the Part
Ducati offers nothing smaller. A single hesitant contact after four seasons therefore costs the complete assembly whichever supplier provides it.
Chemistry, Not Paint
Anodising converts the outer layer of the aluminium electrolytically. There is nothing on the surface to chip when the bike is worked on or when it goes down.
A Resistive Film
That is what water leaves on a terminal, and it produces an intermittent fault rather than a clean failure. The decline runs across months rather than days.
Twenty Minutes Either Direction
Two fasteners and a plug, with nothing spliced. The original goes back on before a sale in the same time and leaves no evidence at all.
Tolerance That Holds
Machining is repeatable indefinitely where moulding tools wear across their life. It is invisible until a component no longer sits quite square on its clamp.
V4 Bodywork, V2 Engine
Ducati gave the smaller bike the larger one's styling and a single-sided swingarm. From ten metres it is indistinguishable from a superbike costing twice as much.
The Usable Panigale
A hundred and fifty-five horsepower with a flatter curve than the 959 managed. It is the superbike in the range a competent rider can genuinely use most of.
The Last of a Family
Its successor uses an entirely new engine, which makes the V2 955 the end of a line running back through the 959 and the 899 to the 1199.
Cornering Electronics From the V4
Lean-sensitive ABS, traction, wheelie control and adjustable engine braking, all from the same Bosch platform the flagship uses. Ducati did not water the package down for the cheaper bike, which is a large part of why a V2 flatters a competent rider rather than intimidating one.
