The JP ES 002 empties the space the charcoal canister took up on the Hypermotard 950 and closes the fuel system properly rather than leaving the tank to breathe through nothing.

Space Rather Than Weight
The real gain is access. Shock adjusters, linkage bolts and exhaust hangers all become reachable once the assembly has gone.
The Advice Nobody Gets
Stop at the click. It is the most effective thing an owner can do to keep an evaporative system alive and it is never mentioned at handover.
Hoses Harden
After a decade the lines have gone stiff, the clips have corroded and the connections weep. Removing the group is as much housekeeping as modification.
Winter Condensation
Water collects in lines running from a warm tank to a cold vessel, and a hard frost can block the narrowest bend. It is a seasonal and non-obvious fault.
Vapour Volume Scales With the Tank
A twenty litre tank in the sun produces considerably more than a fifteen litre one, and the canister is the same size on both. The touring models reach saturation sooner.
The Fault an Unplugged Valve Produces
The controller tests the purge solenoid electrically and stores a code the moment it finds nothing. That code is visible to any dealer with a reader and will not clear until the circuit is answered.
Nothing Changes About Running
The system handles vapour from a standing tank and meters it in at light load. It has no influence on power, throttle response or fuel consumption, and anybody expecting the motorcycle to feel different afterwards has misunderstood what was removed.
Where Ducati Puts the Canister
It goes wherever there is room, which on a superbike means under the tail and on an adventure machine means alongside the swingarm or behind the engine. That is why the space it frees is worth different amounts to different owners, and why the job is worth doing on some models and barely noticeable on others.
