DescriptionThe whole story▼
Riders do not fit a tank extension for looks. They fit it because the standard tank runs out before their chin does, and the last few centimetres of a full tuck are spent with nothing to rest against. CK18405 adds that length: a carbon extension that carries the tank profile rearwards over the standard filler area and gives the rider a defined surface to lie on down a straight.
Key Features
- Extends the effective tank length rearwards for a longer, flatter riding position
- Carbon moulding with a prepreg inner skin, vacuum bagged and autoclave cured
- Presents a continuous surface where the standard tank steps down towards the seat
- Buffed plane weave finish, supplied without clearcoat
- Fits over the existing tank without altering the fuel system
What It Changes for the Rider
Body position on a superbike is decided by three contact points — the pegs, the bars and the tank. The tank is the one riders rarely think to change, and it is the one that determines how far forward the chest can go before the chin loses support. Lengthening it lets a rider extend rather than curl, which flattens the back, reduces frontal area on the straight and takes some load off the arms in braking because the torso is supported instead of hanging. Whether it is worth it depends on the rider's height, which is why it is an option rather than standard equipment.
What It Does Not Change
One point that is worth stating plainly, because the name invites the assumption: this is not a bigger fuel tank. It adds no capacity. The extension sits over the standard tank and changes the shape the rider lies on; the fuel system, the filler, the pump and the breather are all untouched, and range is exactly what it was before. If the goal is more fuel for an endurance stint, this is the wrong part.
Fitment
Carbonin list this part for the 2016 to 2020 Kawasaki ZX-10 R and ZX-10 RR. It also appears under the 2026 machine in Carbonin's dealer ordering list, which is where the 2026 fitment shown here comes from; the public 2026 catalogue page does not list it. If the intended bike is a 2026 Gen 7 machine, confirm the fitment with us before ordering.
Road Approval
No approval document is supplied. This is a competition part for closed circuits.
