DescriptionThe whole story▼
Supermoto riding asks a lot of the left hand. Before every hairpin the rider changes down several gears in quick succession, and each release of the clutch has to be timed so the rear tyre keeps its grip instead of chattering or stepping out. On the Kawasaki KLX 125 D-Tracker, with its small wheels and road tyres, that is the skill that turns a tidy lap into a quick one. For this bike Accossato makes the C7127, a folding clutch lever for the 2010 to 2016 models, machined in Italy from Ergal 7075, with a long four-finger blade.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Kawasaki KLX 125 D-Tracker, 2010 to 2016
- Fits the original clutch mount in place of the stock lever
- Long blade, room for four fingers
- Blade can fold forward on the anti-break joint instead of snapping off
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Choice of black or green blade
- No German ABE documented; for track use, not for public roads
Construction and Material Quality
Built by Accossato in Italy, the C7127 starts as a solid piece of Ergal 7075 and is CNC-machined into shape. The company picks this aluminium alloy, known for high strength, because it wants its levers strong, light and dependable. The lever has a dark base, which stays at the pivot of the clutch mount and houses the joint, and a blade in black or green that hinges forward if it is struck. Accossato gives this clutch-side blade enough length for four fingers.
Changing Down Before the Hairpin
A clean downshift sequence starts with the braking. Once the front brake is on and the bike is upright, the rider pulls the clutch, taps down a gear, blips the throttle to raise the revs and lets the lever out smoothly, then repeats until the right gear is selected. Released too fast, the clutch lets the engine drag the rear tyre down to its own speed, and the back of the bike chatters or slides. Many supermoto riders deliberately let the clutch slip a little on the last downshift to keep the rear settled. A small four-stroke like the KLX 125 D-Tracker produces less engine braking than a big single, which makes it a forgiving place to practise the sequence.
Mistakes still happen: a missed gear, a release that is too abrupt, a rear tyre that steps out while the front is already turning. The bike lowsides and slides on its side, and whichever lever is underneath scrapes along the tarmac. When that is the clutch side, the C7127's joint gives its blade a chance of swinging forward rather than grinding off or snapping. There is no promise it survives a long slide, but when it does, you can ride back to the pits instead of pushing the KLX 125 D-Tracker round the track.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list places the C7127 on the Kawasaki KLX 125 D-Tracker for the years 2010 to 2016, fitted at the original clutch mount. To complete the pair, the B8145 folding brake lever covers the same model years, likewise in black or green.
Road Approval
The C7127 has no German ABE on record. Even though the D-Tracker itself can be registered, the lever is sold for closed circuits and off-road use and is not approved on public roads.
Scope of Delivery
A single C7127 clutch lever, black or green blade.
