DescriptionThe whole story▼
The clutch on a superbike is more than a tool for pulling away. It is also the quickest way to separate the rear wheel from the engine when something goes wrong: a missed downshift that makes the rear tyre hop, a slide on the way into a corner, a sudden noise from the engine. On a ZX-10R, the lever that does that job should sit exactly where the fingers can find it in an instant. The Accossato ESK828 is a clutch lever for the ZX-10R, listed across a long span from 2004 to 2020. It is CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised, fits the original clutch mounting and has an adjustable span.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Kawasaki ZX-10R, 2004 to 2020
- Also listed for the Special Edition and KRT Replica versions
- Fits the original clutch mounting
- Adjustable span with the adjuster near the pivot
- Three blade lengths, standard about 138 mm
- Anodised aluminium in seven blade colours, hub black
- Rigid one-piece lever
- No German ABE documented, sold for the track
Construction and Material Quality
Two steps make the ESK828 for the ZX-10R. CNC machining produces accurate bores for pivot and adjuster and a blade that matches the next one exactly; anodising then creates a hard, coloured surface that grows out of the aluminium instead of sitting on it. The hub is always black. The blade comes in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green. As a rigid lever, it has no folding joint, so nothing dilutes the clutch feel.
The Clutch as an Escape Route
Pulling the clutch at the right moment can turn a scare into nothing. If the rear wheel starts to hop or lock under a downshift, disengaging the clutch frees it at once and lets the tyre find grip again; the same reflex helps if the engine ever makes a sudden mechanical noise, because it removes the engine's hold on the rear wheel. For the reflex to work, the lever must be where the fingers expect it without searching. On the ZX-10R, set the ESK828 so two fingers rest naturally on the blade with the hand on the grip, and check that at full pull the fingers are not trapped. Many track riders keep two fingers over the clutch when braking hard and changing down. The short blade suits that habit and is made in every colour except black and red; the standard length of about 138 mm is closest to the original.
Fitment and Compatibility
The ESK828 appears in Accossato's catalogue for the ZX-10R from 2004 to 2020, with entries for the standard bike across several generations and for the Special Edition, Ninja Special Edition and KRT Replica versions. It fits the original clutch mounting. For the front brake Accossato makes two levers, the EDF088 for 2006 to 2015 and the EDF099 for 2016 to 2020; the 2004 and 2005 bikes have no brake lever on the list.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the ESK828, so it is offered for circuit use.
