DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Shiver 750 was Aprilia's middleweight naked for a whole decade, from 2007 to 2017, and plenty of them are still in daily use. On a bike of that age a new brake lever is rarely just about looks; it is also a chance to give the front brake a little attention while the lever is off anyway. The Accossato EDF023 is a CNC-machined aluminium brake lever for the Shiver 750, listed for 2007 to 2017, that mounts on the original master cylinder and offers adjustable reach and three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Front brake lever for the Aprilia Shiver 750, listed 2007 to 2017
- Fits the original master cylinder
- Reach adjustable near the pivot
- Standard length about 138 mm in all colours
- Short blade in blue, gold, green, orange, silver; long blade in blue, gold, green, orange
- Machined from solid aluminium and anodised
- Black hub, rigid blade, no folding joint
- No German ABE documented; offered for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The EDF023 is not a casting. It is cut from solid aluminium on CNC machines and then anodised, so the colour is part of the surface and the section of the lever stays even from end to end. Its hub, housing the pivot and the reach adjuster, is always black; the blade is coloured and runs to its tip without a joint. Accossato itself works from Villastellone near Turin, where the company combines CNC machining with forging presses.
While the Lever Is Off
Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air over the years, which lowers its boiling point and can make the lever feel softer after repeated hard stops. Many manufacturers recommend changing it every two years, and on an older Shiver 750 whose history you do not know, fresh fluid is a sensible default. A look at the fluid in the reservoir gives a first clue: fresh fluid is light and clear, old fluid turns darker. While you are at it, check the pad thickness and make sure the pivot is clean and lightly greased before the new lever goes on.
Once the EDF023 is fitted, set the reach so your fingers meet the blade at the first joint, then pump the lever a few times with the bike stationary. It should firm up quickly, show a little free travel before the pads bite and switch on the brake light as soon as it moves. If anything feels spongy after the work, have the system bled before riding. For everyday use on the Shiver 750, the standard blade of about 138 mm is closest to the original; the long one, in blue, gold, green or orange, suits whole-hand braking, and the short one, in blue, gold, green, orange or silver, suits two fingers.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF023 for the Shiver 750 from 2007 to 2017, fitted to the original front master cylinder in place of the standard lever. The same part appears for the Shiver 750 GT, the Dorsoduro 750 and several other Aprilia twins. For the clutch, Accossato's Shiver 750 lever is the ESC023, also listed for 2007 to 2017.
Road Approval
No German ABE has been documented for this brake lever, so it is sold for the circuit, not for public roads.
