DescriptionThe whole story▼
KTM gave the first 1290 Super Duke R the nickname 'The Beast', and one hard exit from a slow corner explains why. The big V-twin pulls with such force that the instinctive reaction is to cling to the handlebar, and a rider who clings stiffens exactly the arms that should stay loose. Accossato's FT092 rearsets for the 1290 Super Duke R of 2014 to 2016 put the feet further back than KTM's own footrests, so the legs can take on more of the work of keeping the rider in place.

Construction and Material Quality
The FT092 is an aluminium kit, and Accossato keeps its lines simple and functional rather than decorative. Knurling covers the footpegs and the tips of the gear lever and brake pedal, the places where your boots press hardest when the bike is pulling or stopping. Aluminium heel plates complete the set. For the Super Duke, Accossato lists the rearsets in black only, without the coloured details offered for some other bikes, which gives the area around the rider's feet a quiet, dark look. Accossato also calls the set adjustable but gives no details of the mechanism or the number of settings; if that matters for your decision, ask us before ordering.
Holding On Without Gripping the Bars
Riding coaches repeat one phrase more than almost any other: loose arms. The handlebar is for steering, and every bit of tension in the shoulders and wrists travels straight into it. On a powerful naked bike without a fairing, that is easier said than done. Hard acceleration and the wind try to push you off the back of the seat, hard braking throws the body towards the tank, and in both cases the arms stiffen to stop it.
The alternative is to hold on with the lower body. Press the knees into the tank, keep the balls of the feet on the pegs and let the thighs and core carry the load that would otherwise end up in your hands. With the footrests further back, the boots sit behind the knees, and many riders find it easier to brace against the bike this way and to lean the upper body forward over the tank. On a bike with the pull of the 1290 Super Duke R, relaxed arms also let the steering move freely instead of fighting the rider on a bumpy exit. Try the new position on the stand first, in your usual boots, before you take it onto a circuit.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FT092 for the Super Duke 1290 R from 2014 to 2016, the earliest version of the bike, and the set replaces the original rider footrests together with their controls. Later Super Duke R models do not appear in this listing. With the standard pattern kept, the gearbox shifts exactly as before. Fitting is a job for a workshop: gear and brake linkages need adjusting, the pedal's free play and the brake light need checking, and each bolt should be tightened to KTM's figures, with thread lock where the manual asks for it.
Road Approval
The FT092 has no ABE or parts certificate documented for German roads. We offer it for riding on the track.
