The Layout, Precisely
Standard order from the top is red, blue, grey, black. Racing order is red, grey, black, blue. The blue control moves to the bottom of the column and everything below it shifts up one. That is the entire mechanical difference between this housing and the standard one.
Why It Is Worth Choosing Deliberately
A rider at racing pace locates a button by position, counting from the top of the stack without looking. Which function should sit where the thumb rests naturally depends on how the bike is used, and the answer for a circuit is often not the answer for a road. The arrangement is fixed at assembly, so it has to be decided before ordering.
On the Facelifted RR
This fitment covers the 2023 model onward, the version with winglets and revised aerodynamics. The ShiftCam bike from 2019 to 2022 takes a different housing despite looking similar, so the registration year is the check that matters here.
Everything Else Is the Same
Same Ergal 7075 body, same black anodising, same integrated switch block, same original BMW connector. Only the order of the switch elements differs. Fitting is identical and the motorcycle's electronics see no change.
Who Orders This Version
Almost exclusively owners preparing a bike for circuit use, and riders who have used the racing arrangement on a previous machine and want to keep the muscle memory. For a road-ridden RR the standard order matches every other BMW and there is real value in that consistency.
