DescriptionThe whole story▼
For the first-generation S1000R, the JP CO BM018 replaces the combined throttle housing and right-hand switch with a single machined Ergal unit, black anodised and unlettered.
Key Features
- BMW S1000R (2013–2020)
- Machined from a single block of Ergal 7075
- Integrated right-hand switch block
- No model lettering on the housing
- Black anodised
- Plug-and-play on the original connector
The Naked Before the Redesign
This covers the S1000R as BMW first built it: 160 hp, the asymmetric face inherited from the superbike, and a chassis that was firmer than most riders expected. The 2021 replacement was a substantially better motorcycle, which has made the earlier one good value and popular with people who modify.
A Common Upgrade on a Modified Bike
These motorcycles rarely stay standard. Exhausts, levers, rearsets and bar ends go on early, and the throttle housing is usually noticed afterwards, when everything around it has been changed and it is the last moulded plastic left in view. That is the point at which most owners find this part.
The Switches Come With It
Because the right-hand controls are integrated into the throttle assembly, this is not simply a cosmetic housing. It carries the buttons, plugs into the motorcycle's original connector and functions exactly as the part it replaces. Nothing is rewired and nothing has to be coded afterwards.
Open Form, No Badge
The BM018 body is the cut-away shape rather than the fully closed one, and this version carries no model lettering on the flank. Both are deliberate choices on a bike where the cockpit is fully exposed to view.
Black Only on This Body
The BM008 housings for the superbike are anodised in four colours. This one is black, which is a consequence of the different production run rather than a design decision, and on a bike whose cockpit is otherwise dark it is rarely a limitation.
What the Cut-Away Shape Gives You
The BM018 body is relieved rather than fully enclosed, which shows more of the bar and the cable run behind it. On a naked motorcycle where the whole cockpit is on display, that is a visible difference rather than a technical one, and it is the main reason an owner would choose this housing over the closed alternative.
