DescriptionThe whole story▼
KTM's newest flagship naked, the 1390 Super Duke R (2024-2026), carries more displacement and more claimed power than the model it replaces. The JP ACCGP KT016 pairs that new engine with a 60-degree throttle stroke and a progressive return spring, keeping the hand's control proportionate to the extra output underneath it.
Key Features
- KTM 1390 Super Duke R (2024–2026)
- GP Series ride-by-wire quick throttle with a sixty degree rotation angle
- Progressive return spring, preload adjustable externally in three positions
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075
- Plug-and-play on the motorcycle's own connector
- Standard throttle assembly refits at any time
A Bigger Engine Asks More of the Hand
KTM grew the V-twin for this generation, and more displacement generally means more torque arriving earlier in the rev range. A throttle rotation designed around the previous engine's output can feel loose on the new one; shortening the stroke keeps hand movement matched to how quickly this motor actually responds.
First Impressions on a New Platform
Riders moving from the previous 1290 generation notice throttle feel before almost anything else, since it is the first input of every ride. A shorter, more deliberate rotation gives the new 1390 a throttle response that feels considered rather than carried over unchanged from an older design.
Three Preload Stages for a New Chassis
The updated chassis changes how weight shifts under acceleration compared with the outgoing model, and the progressive spring's external three-stage preload lets an owner match throttle resistance to how their own riding position has settled on the new bike, rather than inheriting a setting tuned for the old one.
Cable Feel on a Fully Electronic Platform
Despite running entirely on ride-by-wire with no mechanical cable anywhere in the system, the shortened throw and progressive spring recreate the direct, predictable pull that riders associate with a cable-operated throttle, which matters most in the first few rides while a rider is still learning the new bike's character.
Billet Ergal for a Flagship Naked
A machine positioned as KTM's top naked model deserves components machined rather than cast, and this body is milled from solid Ergal 7075 to hold tight tolerances at the pivot under the loads this engine can generate. That level of finish is not something a cast part can match.
Keeping the Option to Go Back
Early adopters of a new generation sometimes want to compare the standard throttle feel against the GP Series one, or a dealer may need to inspect the stock part during a warranty claim. The original unbolts and refits cleanly, with the usual ECU relearn finishing either direction of the swap.
