DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP EX 001 B answers for the earlier S1000RR's exhaust valve servo once a race system is fitted.
Key Features
- BMW S1000RR (2009–2018)
- Answers for the exhaust valve servo
- No warning on the instrument panel
- Plugs into BMW's own connector
- For a system with no exhaust valve
- Standard servo refits at any time
Which Generation
This part covers the RR before the 2019 redesign. BMW changed the exhaust arrangement with ShiftCam and the later bikes take a different answer.
A Butterfly and a Motor
The valve sits in the collector and the servo pulls it open with a cable. Between them they keep the bike inside a drive-by noise limit.
Position Feedback
The motor reports where it has moved to, and the controller compares that with what it asked for. A missing servo produces a mismatch and a permanent fault.
Answered Properly
The eliminator returns the expected feedback, so the self-test passes and the panel carries nothing at any point.
Race Systems Have No Valve
A full titanium exhaust exists to save weight and to flow, and a butterfly does neither. Almost nothing sold for competition includes the mechanism.
A Scrutineering Problem
A lit warning on the dashboard reads as an unresolved fault whatever caused it, and explaining takes longer than fitting the part would have.
The 2012 Update
BMW revised the engine and the electronics partway through the generation, sharpening a motorcycle that had already reset the class three years earlier.
Race ABS in 2009
The original S1000RR arrived with anti-lock braking and traction control as standard at a price nobody could match, and the whole class had to answer.
One Connector
BMW's own plug with no adapters and nothing cut anywhere in the harness.
Reversible
Refit the standard silencer and its servo, unplug the eliminator and everything behaves as before.
Depreciation Has Been Kind
A pre-2019 S1000RR now costs a fraction of what it did new while remaining quick enough to embarrass most things on a circuit. That combination is why so many end up being prepared properly rather than merely ridden.
