DescriptionThe whole story▼
When Kawasaki presented the Z650RS for 2022, the timing fitted well: that year marked half a century since the company's first Z, and anniversary editions followed, one of them a Z650RS. The bike wraps a modern twin-cylinder engine and chassis in a round headlamp, a teardrop tank and lines drawn from the 1970s. For the Z650RS of 2022 to 2024, Accossato lists the FC126, a fuel tank cap with quick release, CNC-machined from aluminium and closed by a pawl with a coloured pin.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Kawasaki Z650RS, 2022 to 2024
- Also listed for the Z650RS 50th Anniversary of 2022
- Made entirely of CNC-machined aluminium, robust and durable per Accossato
- New, modern design rather than a retro copy
- Quick-closing pawl with a pin in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Spare pawl available separately
- No German ABE on file; for circuit use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato cuts the whole FC126 from aluminium on CNC machines and calls it sturdy and made to last. Its design is new, which is worth stating on a retro bike: this is a modern machined part, not an imitation of a 1970s cap. The quick-closing pawl opens the Z650RS's tank quickly and closes it again, and the pawl's pin is ordered in one of six colours. A damaged pawl is available as a separate spare. Accossato itself was founded in 1969, three years before Kawasaki's first Z appeared.
Half a Century of Z
Kawasaki's Z story began in 1972 with a four-cylinder road bike that made a lasting impression, and the letter has returned on many of its road machines since. The Z650RS takes its cues from the smaller Z models of the later 1970s: the rounded tank, the simple lines, the upright seat. Owners who choose it often care about that history, and a good number keep their bikes close to original. A machined aluminium cap on such a bike is a deliberate contrast, a modern detail on a classic outline, and the pin colour decides how loud that contrast is. Silver or black keeps it restrained; gold suits warm, classic paint. For a Z650RS that only occasionally visits a circuit, the sensible routine is to fit the FC126 in the paddock for the day and put the original cap back before heading home, so the bike stays exactly as its owner wants it on the road.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list names the Z 650 RS from 2022 to 2024 and, as a separate entry, the Z 650 RS 50th Anniversary of 2022 for the FC126. This product covers both. The same cap is carried by us for the Ninja 650. Compare the model year of your Z650RS with the list before ordering.
Road Approval
The FC126 comes without a German ABE or documented parts certificate and is therefore a track part. The Z650RS's own cap normally locks with the key, and on public roads it belongs on the tank.
