DescriptionThe whole story▼
Few motorcycles gather distance like a BMW R 1200 RT. With its full fairing, adjustable screen and upright seat, the tourer is made for long days, and many owners ride theirs across Europe year after year. That kind of use turns the front discs into a regular service item rather than a rare repair. Accossato lists its DK007, a fixed one-piece steel disc of 320 mm, for the R 1200 RT from 2005 to 2018, and notes that a fitting kit is required on most model years: for 2007 to 2009, 2010 to 2013, the RT/SE of 2010 to 2013 and 2014 to 2018. Only the 2005 to 2006 entry has no such note. Please check with us before ordering.

Construction and Material Quality
The DK007 is a fixed disc, formed as a single piece of steel with no separate carrier. It measures 320 mm at the outer edge and 181 mm at the centre bore, and its friction face starts at 5 mm. Printed on the disc is the minimum working thickness, which turns wear from a guess into a measurement. Accossato says its experience in Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3 shaped both the design and the selection of the raw material, and it names the restrained weight of its discs as a benefit for steering.
Kilometres, Calendars and a Micrometer
Accossato's guidance is to replace brake discs roughly every thirty to forty thousand kilometres, or earlier if they are worn, scored, cracked or below the printed minimum. On an R 1200 RT that covers big distances each year, that can mean a disc change every few seasons, so it makes sense to plan for it rather than discover it at an inspection. Measuring is quick with the right tool. A micrometer with flat anvils gives the true thickness in the pad track, whereas a sliding caliper tends to rest on the lip at the edge and reads too high. Take readings at four or more points around each disc and note the lowest. Write the result and the odometer reading in the service book each time the tyres are changed. After two or three entries you can see how fast the discs wear under your kind of riding, whether that means long motorway stints or slow meanders through the Dolomites with a passenger, and order replacements in good time.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK007 for the R 1200 RT from 2005 to 2018, in entries for 2005 to 2006, 2007 to 2009, 2010 to 2013 and 2014 to 2018, plus the RT/SE of 2010 to 2013. No other Accossato disc is named for this model. The R 1200 RT runs two discs on its front wheel, so order two for a complete change; the price is per disc.
Road Approval
The DK007 has no ABE for Germany and no type approval on record. Its purpose is track and competition riding.
Scope of Delivery
