DescriptionThe whole story▼
Big single-cylinder enduros have their own rhythm. They are relaxed at a steady pace, but the slow, technical bits ask for patience: a steep, stony track at walking pace, where the clutch keeps the engine from stalling and a foot is never far from the ground. The SWM RS 650 R, the largest of SWM's RS enduros, is such a machine. Accossato's C7182 is a folding clutch lever for the RS 650 R of 2016, machined in Italy from Ergal 7075 with a long blade for four fingers and a hinge that can save it in a fall.

Construction and Material Quality
On a big bike, a clutch lever is loaded hard in a fall, so the material matters. The C7182 is milled on CNC machines in Italy from a solid block of Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, and Accossato's stated aim is a combination of strength, reliability and low weight. It is built from two pieces, a dark base on the pivot and a blade in black, blue or orange, connected by a hinge. The clutch blade is the longer of the two shapes in Accossato's off-road range and has room for four fingers.
A Big Single at Walking Pace
Slow riding on a big single is mostly clutch work. A large four-stroke pulls hard from low revs, and keeping the RS 650 R at a crawl down a rocky track or round a tight hairpin means slipping the clutch in small doses and covering it constantly, ready to pull it in before the engine stalls. A long lever that the whole hand can wrap round makes those small doses easier to judge, particularly late in a long day, when the forearm has already done plenty of work.
It is also at walking pace that big enduros most often end up on the ground. A boot misses its foothold, the bike leans a little too far on a camber, and the mass of the RS 650 R takes it the rest of the way. Picking it up is hard enough; finding a snapped clutch lever afterwards turns a nuisance into a problem. The C7182's hinge gives the blade the chance to fold forward as the bike lands, so the lever may well survive a tip-over that would break a solid one. It is not a promise, but it is a sensible precaution on a big machine.
Fitment and Compatibility
Two entries in Accossato's list cover the SWM RS 650 R, the standard bike and the RS 650 R Facelift, both for model year 2016; on either, the C7182 fits the original clutch mount. No other model years of the RS 650 R appear. The right side of the bar is not covered, as the range offers no brake lever for this machine.
Road Approval
The C7182 has no documented German ABE. If your RS 650 R is registered for the road, note that it is not approved for public roads with this lever fitted; the lever is intended for off-road riding.
