What It Is
Dimensionally this is 1 mm, 83.3 mm, which is how it is told apart from the rest of the range. An original Öhlins service part, listed under its own number in the Öhlins spare parts catalogue. This part comes from the same production line as the components it is fitted to. Öhlins does not sell service parts as pattern equivalents — there is one specification.
Why the Original
Öhlins supports its suspension with individual service parts, which is why a fifteen-year-old damper can still be rebuilt to specification. The alternative to a service part is usually a new damper, which is why this catalogue exists. The Öhlins exploded view names the number for each position; we can look it up if you do not have it. We can supply the whole position from the drawing rather than the single piece if that is easier.
Identifying the Right Part
The reliable route is the exploded drawing: find the position, read the number, order it — 05664-01 in this case. Öhlins states dimension a 1 mm, dimension b 83.3 mm for this number, and those figures are the deciding ones. Öhlins publishes an exploded view for every unit, and each position in it has its own number. Availability of individual parts is one reason Öhlins units stay in service for decades.
Fitting and Setup Service
Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.
