ls2-ff908-strobe-ii-lux-matt-black-pink-helmet
LS2 FF908 Strobe II Lux Matt Black Pink – Flip-Up Commuter Helmet ECE 22.06 P/J

Lux is the most restrained of the four graphics — a fine linear pattern that runs along the shell rather than across it, so it reads as texture at distance and as detail up close. In pink over matt black it is the only helmet in the range that puts a warm colour on a dark shell.

What SHARP measured, and where this helmet sits

ECE approval is a pass mark; SHARP is a ranking, and the difference matters. ECE 22.06 tells you a helmet met the minimum. SHARP takes helmets bought at retail, strikes them at three speeds across five sites, and publishes how each one actually performed relative to the others. The Strobe2 scored four out of five.

It is worth being clear that SHARP is not perfect either — a single rating cannot capture fit, and fit is what decides whether a helmet is on your head when it lands. But it is the only independent, publicly funded comparison of helmets sold in Europe, and it is a better guide than any manufacturer's own literature.

Model

Type

Shell

Weight

RRP

FF908 Strobe II

Flip-up (P/J)

KPA

1700 g

from 139 €

FF902 Scope II

Flip-up (P/J)

HPTT

1750 g

from 179 €

FF906 Advant

Flip-up (P/J)

KPA

1750 g

from 299 €

FF901 Advant X

Flip-up (P/J)

HPFC

1600 g

from 399 €

FF901 Advant X Carbon

Flip-up (P/J)

Carbon 6K

1550 g

from 469 €

About the Lux Matt Black Pink graphic

Pink is a harder pigment than it looks. Most pinks are built from red with white added, which is why they go chalky under a matt lacquer and fade faster than any other colour under ultraviolet. The Lux pattern works around that by using pink as line work rather than as area fill: thin, high-contrast strokes on a matt black ground, where the eye reads the contrast rather than the saturation. That keeps it looking deliberate rather than washed out, and it means the graphic ages far better than a pink-panelled helmet would. On the bike it is genuinely distinctive without being loud, and against the black base it stays visible at the angles that matter — from the side and the three-quarter view a driver actually gets.

Three shells, and what KPA actually is

The size range runs XS to 3XL on three shells. Weight is the consequence people feel first: a small rider in a one-shell helmet carries the same outer shell as a large one and pays for it in grams on the neck all day. Here an XS wears a shell built for XS and S. The break points are XS–S, M–L and XL–3XL, and if you sit at the top of a group the helmet will feel closest to its intended fit, because that size is the one the shell was drawn around.

Ninety degrees, and how the chin bar locks

Where the bar sits when open changes how the helmet behaves. Ninety degrees puts it at the highest point of the shell, so the mass moves up and slightly forward and an open Strobe II feels more top-heavy at a standstill than a closed one. That is geometry rather than a fault, and it is common to almost every flip-up made. It is also the practical reason to close it before setting off rather than after.

What ECE 22.06 and the P/J label mean

Two letters and a number, both worth understanding. 22.06 is the current standard: up to eighteen impact sites where its predecessor used five, multiple speeds, and rotational acceleration measured for the first time. P/J is the dual homologation: tested as a protective full-face and, separately, as a jet with the bar raised. On a helmet designed to be worn both ways, having only one of those would be a real gap.

Twin Visor, sun visor — and the Pinlock that is not in the box

Worth knowing before you order a spare sun visor: this helmet went through a parts change. Helmets built from March 2024 use one internal shade; earlier ones use a different, older part shared with the FF800 and FF808. They are not interchangeable, and the section on spares further down this page has both numbers. Check the production date on the label inside the chin strap before ordering.

Air, the breath deflector and the elastic-band liner

The exhaust port is the half of the ventilation nobody thinks about and the half that makes the rest work. Air does not flow through a helmet because the front vents are open — it flows because the low-pressure area behind the shell pulls it out at the back. Block or lose the rear vent and the crown intake stops doing much, which is why a helmet missing its exhaust cover feels stuffier rather than airier.

1700 grams, no emergency release, and the rest of the honest list

What you are giving up at a hundred and thirty-nine euros, listed plainly. There is no emergency release system. There is no anti-fog insert in the box, only a visor prepared for one. The chin bar stops at ninety degrees. And the helmet weighs 1700 g, which is light for a flip-up and heavy for a helmet.

What you are not giving up is more interesting: three shells, a drop-down sun visor, a breath deflector, a full spare-parts programme and an independently verified four-star crash rating. That combination at this price is the reason this helmet is worth a page this long.

When something wears out

The chin vent is the one to keep a spare of if you keep a spare of anything. It is mounted on the chin bar, so it travels every time the helmet is opened and takes more handling than any other component on the shell. It is also the vent that clears a misted visor, which makes it the one you will miss soonest if it breaks in November.

In the box

LS2 FF908 Strobe II helmet — Lux Matt Black Pink

Carrying bag

Reflective stickers

🔵 No Pinlock® insert — the visor is prepared for one (DKS520), sold separately

Specification

Model — LS2 FF908 Strobe II

Part number — 569082145

Colour — Lux Matt Black Pink — Lux graphic, matt with pink

Homologation — ECE 22.06, dual P/J (protective and jet)

Safety rating — SHARP 4 of 5 stars (tested August 2026, ECE 22.06); chin bar fully locked in 37 % of impacts

Helmet type — Flip-up / modular, chin bar raising 90° with locking system

Shell — KPA (Kinetic Polymer Alloy), three shell sizes (XS–S / M–L / XL–3XL)

Weight — 1700 g (±50 g)

Sizes — XS to 3XL (seven sizes)

Anti-fog — prepared for Pinlock® 70 MaxVision™ (DKS520) — insert NOT supplied

Visor — Twin Visor System, scratch-resistant, UV-stable, quick-release

Sun visor — integrated, tinted, drop-down

Impact liner — multi-density EPS with moulded ventilation channels

Retention — micrometric ratchet buckle, reinforced chin strap, chin bar lock

Emergency release — not fitted on this model

Ventilation — chin intake, top intake, rear exhaust port, breath deflector

Liner — 3D laser-cut, elastic-band crown, hypoallergenic, breathable, removable and washable

Intercom — prepared for the current LS2 Bluetooth system

Serviceability — complete chin bar available as a spare part in every one of the twelve colourways
