Half a Carbon Area Looks Worse Than None
An exposed carrier with modules and connectors on show reads as unfinished, and the eye goes straight to it through the fairing openings. Paradoxically, a bike with the expensive bracket and no lid can look less considered than one left entirely standard.
That is the argument for treating the two as one purchase rather than two. The lid costs a fraction of the carrier and it is what turns the work into something visible.

Fitting
Before the last fastener, check nothing is pinched at the edge. A connector held under constant pressure develops an intermittent fault, and nobody traces that to a cosmetic lid.
