DescriptionThe whole story▼

In a long cross-country race the rider switches between sitting and standing hundreds of times. On a Honda CRF450RX, the cross-country version of Honda's 450 motocrosser, every one of those changes happens through the footpegs: the legs push the body up from the seat and let it down again. Getting the transitions right saves energy and keeps the bike stable. Accossato makes enlarged footpegs in Ergal for the CRF450RX of 2017 to 2026, in orange, blue, black, red or Titanium.

Construction and Material Quality

The manufacturer's description is brief: enlarged footpegs, made of Ergal, for motocross, enduro and off-road bikes. Ergal is a high-strength aluminium alloy. With an enlarged peg the boot has a broader base to push against when the rider rises from the seat, and to rest on while standing. You receive a pair, left and right, and both come in the colour selected for the CRF450RX.

Sitting Down, Standing Up

Cross-country riders learn when to sit and when to stand. As a rule they stand on rough ground, over roots, rocks and braking bumps, and whenever they need to see further ahead. They sit in turns, on smooth fast sections and wherever the rear wheel needs traction. The changes between the two are what cost energy. A rider who stands up by pulling on the handlebar uses the arms and unsettles the steering; one who pushes up with the legs, through the pegs, keeps the arms relaxed and the bike on line.

The same applies to sitting down. Settling onto the seat gently, rather than dropping onto it, keeps the rear suspension calm. On the CRF450RX, with its strong engine, the changes often coincide with hard acceleration or braking, which makes them even more demanding. A secure footing makes each one smoother, and a broader peg supports more of the sole as the leg pushes. Over a race of two or three hours, the energy saved adds up.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the CRF450RX from 2017 to 2026, and the set is linked to those years in our garage. It is the only Accossato footpeg set for this bike; the CRF450R and the CRF250RX are listed with the same pair. After fitting, check that the pegs fold and return freely and that the brake pedal and gear lever are still in the right place for your boots.

Road Approval

No ABE or approval documents are available for these pegs, so we offer them for competition, which is where the CRF450RX is at home.
