DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Zero DSR is a dual-sport, and the 2023 ZF17.3-X version is often taken off tarmac onto gravel roads, forest tracks and dusty trails. For that use Accossato offers its rear pad AGPA29 in STMX, the off-road sintered compound. Dirt riding puts a rear brake under unusual stress: mud, sand and fine dust grind against the disc, and water crossings cool it suddenly. STMX is the mixture Accossato makes for riders who head into that environment.
Key Features
- AGPA29 rear pads for Zero DSR 2023 (ZF17.3-X)
- STMX compound for off-road riders
- Accossato's mixture for mud, sand and trail work
- Meant for gravel roads, forest tracks and enduro days
- Rear brake control on loose surfaces
- Other versions of this pad: OR, ST, EV1
- Two pads for one caliper
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato describes the off-road sintered compound simply as its mix for off-road riders. That sets the scene: a pad built for dirt, grit and water rather than for commuting or track days. The company's general design aims apply as well, including slow wear and limited heat build-up. On a dual-sport like the DSR, where the rear brake is used to steer and slow the bike on loose ground, a pad that tolerates contamination is an advantage.
After a Day in the Dirt
An enduro day on the DSR leaves mud in every corner of the bike. The rear caliper, sitting low and close to the wheel, collects the most. Once home, wash the caliper and disc with plain water, avoid aiming a pressure washer straight at the seals, and let everything dry. Check pad thickness, because sand acts like sandpaper on the friction material. If you rode through a ford, the first few stops afterwards may feel weaker until the pads dry, so squeeze the brake lightly to clear the water. The STMX pad is made to cope with this cycle ride after ride.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists AGPA29 for the rear brake of the Zero DSR ZF17.3-X, 2023. For a 2016 or 2017 DSR the rear pad is AGPP91. The 2023 front brake takes AGPA96, the early model AGPA92. Replace both rear pads together and pump the pedal before riding.
Road Approval
Accossato has not supplied us with an ABE or test paperwork for this pad, so it is offered for competition and off-road sport.
Scope of Delivery
Two STMX pads for the rear caliper.
