DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Versys 1000 of 2019 to 2024 is Kawasaki's large, road-focused adventure tourer, with a four-cylinder engine, long-travel suspension and electronics that make long days relaxed. Its owners tend to travel far, and a tour through northern Italy can easily include a day on one of the circuits there, booked in advance as the highlight of the trip. Accossato, based in Villastellone near Turin, lists the FC126 for this Versys 1000, a CNC-machined aluminium cap with a quick-closing pawl and a pin whose colour you choose.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Kawasaki Versys 1000, 2019 to 2024
- Body CNC-machined entirely from aluminium
- Quick-closing pawl for quick top-ups
- Pin in black, gold, green, red, silver or blue
- Pawl available separately as a spare
- New design, robust and durable according to Accossato
- No German ABE documented; for circuits
Construction and Material Quality
Shaped on CNC machines from aluminium alone, the FC126 is sturdy and long-lived by Accossato's account, and its design is a new one. On the Versys 1000, the quick-closing pawl opens the tank quickly and closes it again as soon as the fuel is in. The pin is the coloured part, available in six colours. Accossato sells the pawl as a separate spare if it is ever damaged.
A Tour With One Day on Track
Northern Italy has several circuits within a day's ride of each other, and many of them hold open track days that visitors can book. Combining one with a tour on a Versys 1000 takes some planning. Book the day well ahead, check what the organiser requires in terms of clothing, noise and paperwork, and pack the FC126 somewhere safe in the luggage, wrapped in a cloth. On arrival, take off any luggage and leave it with the organiser if they offer storage, sign on and let the bike stand while you attend the briefing, so the engine is cool by the time you swap the caps. Keep the original cap zipped into a pocket rather than loose in a bag. Buy fuel at the circuit or a nearby station, fill only as much as the day needs, and check the cap after every top-up. At the end of the day, let the engine cool again before refitting the original, because the rest of the tour is on public roads. Then the Versys 1000 goes back to what it does on every other day of the trip.
Fitment and Compatibility
On Accossato's list the Versys 1000 appears with the FC126 for 2019 to 2024; an earlier Versys 1000 is not covered by this entry. The same cap is listed in our shop for the Versys 650 and the Ninja 1000 SX. Check your Versys against Accossato's list before ordering.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no parts certificate are on record for the FC126, so it is for circuit use. For the ride to the track and the rest of the tour, the Versys 1000 needs its original cap, which normally locks with the ignition key.
