DescriptionThe whole story▼
The XJR1300 is the kind of motorcycle that stays with one owner for a long time, and many are ridden by hands that have worked a clutch for decades. Fingers that are stiffer than they used to be, or a thumb joint that aches after a long ride, make the reach and weight of the lever matter more every year. Accossato's ESC777 addresses both: a machined aluminium clutch lever for the XJR1300, listed from 1999 to 2016, with an adjustable distance to the grip and a choice of blade lengths.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Yamaha XJR1300, 1999 to 2016
- Also listed for the XJR 1300 Racer
- Mounts at the original clutch mounting
- Reach adjustable to shorten the stretch
- Long blade for more leverage in blue, gold, green and orange
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised, black hub
- Fixed blade in one piece
Construction and Material Quality
The ESC777 is milled from aluminium on CNC machines and then anodised, a finish that leaves the surface hard and smooth to the touch. For fingers that press the same blade thousands of times a season, that smoothness is pleasant, and the anodised layer will not chip at the edges the way paint can. The hub is black, the blade coloured to order. Between hub and tip there is no folding joint; the lever is a single rigid piece, so the effort you put in goes into moving the clutch rather than into flexing a hinge.
Hands That Have Ridden for Decades
A clutch lever that stands far from the grip forces the fingers to open wide before they can pull, and that is the position in which stiff joints complain most. Bringing the blade closer lets the fingers start the pull already partly closed, where they are stronger and less likely to ache. On the XJR1300, set the ESC777's reach so that your fingertips rest on the blade with the hand relaxed, then check that a full pull still frees the clutch cleanly. The long blade adds leverage, which lightens the effort at the fingertips. Riders who prefer the classic look can stay with the standard blade of about 138 mm, which comes in every colour including silver. None of this changes the bike, but it can make a long ride on it considerably more comfortable.
Fitment and Compatibility
This product covers the XJR1300 from 1999 to 2016, and Accossato also lists the ESC777 for the XJR 1300 Racer. Accossato's own list names 1995 as the first year, but that reaches back to the XJR1200, the predecessor, so the listing here begins with 1999. The lever replaces the stock one at the original clutch mounting. For 2015 and 2016 a second Accossato clutch lever is listed, the ESY688, given for a version called XJR 1300 C; if your bike is from one of those years, compare your original lever with the product photos before you decide. The front brake lever for the XJR1300 is the EDF016, listed for 2004 to 2016.
Road Approval
Accossato provides no documented German ABE for the ESC777, so it is sold for track use.
