The Version That Sold
Most Multistrada 1200s on the road are S models, because the semi-active suspension is what buyers at this price were actually looking for.
Not a Performance Part
Nothing changes about power, throttle response or consumption. The gains are a tidier engine and one fewer perishable component.
The Diagnostic Current
The controller pulses the circuit and measures what comes back. The connector's resistance sits inside the window it expects, so it reports normal.
The Cover Is Visible
It sits where the plastic housing was, on an engine Ducati styles around. A milled part reads as considered where a capped hose does not.
Cold, Always
Aluminium threads in a warm head strip easily, and there is no reason at all to attempt this on an engine that has just run.
Two Prices, One Job
Bought together the parts cost less than separately, and the access only has to be paid for once in labour or in evenings.
The Part Nobody Mentions
Removing the housing leaves the hose port open at the airbox, and closing that is not optional. Unfiltered air entering an intake is a considerably worse outcome than the emissions system ever was.
What the Evening Actually Looks Like
Seat, side panels, tank, airbox, then two components that take about twenty minutes between them, then reassembly. The parts are the short part of the job and the bodywork is the long part, which is the single most useful thing to know before starting.
What the Dashboard Should Look Like
Nothing at all. If a warning survives the job, the cause is generally a connector not seated fully rather than anything about the parts, and pushing the plug home until the latch clicks solves it more often than any amount of diagnosis.
