The Sensible Fast Bike
Owners tend to be riders who have had superbikes and want the performance without the wrists. It is a very specific market and Kawasaki serves it well.
Traction Control From 2014
Kawasaki added it partway through the run along with riding modes, which brought the SX up to where the class had moved.
The Tank Still Breathes
Fuel drawn out has to be replaced by air coming in, so the kit supplies a proper vent fitting. A hose cut short and left open works until the motorcycle lies on its side.
Hard Starting With a Full Tank
The clearest single symptom of a saturated bed, and almost nobody notices the pattern. Owners chase batteries, plugs and injectors before anybody mentions the canister.
Two Different Motorcycles
A track bike loses nothing here and a registered road bike in a mandated market loses its compliance. The same model can be either, depending entirely on what its owner intends.
Small Parts Go Missing
The clips and bracket bolts disappear from a garage floor. Bagging them at the time is the difference between a smooth refit and a hardware shop visit.
Hoses Harden
After a decade the lines have gone stiff, the clips have corroded and the connections weep slightly. Removing the group is as much housekeeping as modification.
Cold Weather Makes It Worse
Condensation collects in vapour lines running from a warm tank to a cold vessel, and in a hard frost that water can block the narrowest bend. It is an intermittent seasonal fault with a non-obvious cause.
On a Bike That Tours
Filling to the brim at every stop is exactly what a rider crossing empty country does, and exactly what ruins a charcoal bed. The models with the largest tanks therefore suffer most, which is the opposite of convenient.
