Some motorcycles are kept long enough for their owners to know every noise they make. The CB 1000 R RA is often one of them: a naked four that arrived in 2008, was sold for the better part of a decade, and ended up in garages where the oil is changed at home and the service book is filled in by hand. That kind of ownership needs a filler cap that opens easily year after year. Accossato's FP004 is machined from aluminium, threaded M20x2.5 and anodised in eight colours.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the FP004 from aluminium on CNC equipment and colours it by anodising, so there is no paint layer to chip away from the knurled edge over a long ownership. Eight finishes are listed, from titanium, silver and black at the restrained end to gold, red, orange, blue and green at the other. The thread is M20x2.5. That is the only dimension the maker publishes, and deliberately so: it is the figure that answers the only question a filler cap raises. Accossato covers the applications on its list and states that other motorcycles with the same filler size can take the cap as well.
A Bike Kept Long Enough to Know It Well
Home servicing settles into a pattern, and the oil check is the part of it that happens most often. Let the CB 1000 R RA stand until the engine is cold, then put it in the position the owner's manual specifies and read the level there; a four-cylinder engine holds oil in places that take time to drain back, so patience gives the honest figure. Wipe the area around the filler before it is opened, because a bike that has covered a decade of commuting carries a decade of road film on its casings. Look at the thread and the sealing face on both the cap and the cover, and clean them if they need it. Add oil in small amounts, checking between each, and use the grade the manual names rather than what happens to be open. Turn the FP004 in by hand until it seats; that is the entire torque specification for a cap of this sort, and it means the next check is as easy as this one. Look underneath after the first ride to confirm the area is dry.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FP004 for the CB 1000 R RA from 2008 to 2016. Since fit follows the M20x2.5 thread, other motorcycles with that filler size are equally well served, and in our catalogue the same cap appears for the Monster 821, the Hypermotard 939 and the Diavel. If the engine cover has been replaced at any point in a long life, measure the thread before ordering. Accossato also offers the TS005 for the front brake reservoir of this machine, in colours that go well with the filler cap.

We cannot produce an ABE or any other test document for the FP004; the cap is therefore listed for racing and competition use.
