The Monster 821 Stripe wears its racing stripes across the tank and looks made for quick day rides on good roads, often a long way from home and with nothing more than a small backpack or a tank bag. A naked bike offers almost no room for anything else. On longer days that raises a practical question: where can a small bottle of engine oil travel? For the Stripe of 2015 to 2017, Accossato lists the FP004, an M20x2.5 oil filler cap machined from aluminium and anodised.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato, founded in 1969 in Moncalieri near Turin, machines the FP004 from aluminium and colours it by anodising, which makes the finish part of the metal. The eight colours give the Monster 821 Stripe plenty of room: red or black follow the classic Ducati palette, silver and titanium stay technical, and gold, orange, blue or green set a clear contrast to the paint. The thread is M20x2.5, and Accossato states that the cap fits the listed motorcycles and can be adapted to others with the same cap size.
Where the Oil Travels on a Naked Bike
Most riders never need to add oil on a day ride; those who do usually checked too long ago. So the first rule is to check at home the evening before, with the engine cool and the Monster 821 Stripe standing exactly as its owner's manual describes. If the level is already close to the lower mark, top up there and then in your own garage rather than taking the problem with you. For longer tours, a small, tightly closed bottle of the oil named in the manual can travel in the tank bag or backpack, sealed in a plastic bag together with a rag and a pair of disposable gloves. Keep it upright and away from anything sharp. If you need it on the road, plan the top-up for a longer break, when the engine has had time to cool, and look for level ground. Wipe around the filler before opening it, pour slowly and read the level again before adding more. The FP004 goes back in by hand and only until it seats. At the next stop, a quick look at the cap and the engine case confirms that everything has stayed dry.
Fitment and Compatibility
The FP004 is listed by Accossato for the Monster 821 Stripe of 2015 to 2017. Its identifying feature is the M20x2.5 thread, and Accossato notes that the cap can be adapted to other motorcycles with a cap of that size. At Inter-Pace it is also catalogued for the Monster 821, the Monster 1200 S and the Hyperstrada 821. If the history of your Stripe is unknown, compare the thread of the fitted cap before ordering.
