DescriptionThe whole story▼
KTM launched the 1290 Super Duke R for 2014 and nicknamed it The Beast, a naked bike built around the big LC8 V-twin, with electronics to keep that engine in check. On a circuit it is physically demanding: there is no fairing to hide behind on the straights, and every braking zone asks a lot of arms and core. By late afternoon that effort shows, and tired riders make small mistakes. Accossato's list has the FC116 for the 1290 Super Duke R from 2014 to 2016, a quick-release cap machined from solid aluminium, with a pin in one of six colours on its pawl.

- Pin in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold

- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's FC116 is CNC-machined from aluminium, with that single material for the whole body, and the company describes it as robust and durable. The design is a new one. The quick-closing pawl gets the tank of the Super Duke open and shut again in moments, and its pin comes in six colours, gold and green among them. Should the pawl ever be damaged, Accossato sells a replacement by itself, so the cap stays on the bike.
Four O'Clock and Tired
The most dangerous hour of a track day is often the last one. By then the adrenaline has faded, forearms are sore from hard braking, concentration drifts, and riders start to hurry so they can pack up before the traffic. On a bike as demanding as the 1290 Super Duke R, that is when small routines matter most, and refuelling is one of them. If you top up before the final session, do it as carefully as you did in the morning: engine off, bike on its stands, fuel poured slowly, pawl closed and the cap checked by hand, not just with a glance. Ask a friend to look at it too; a second pair of eyes costs nothing. Be honest about whether you need the last session at all. Many riders skip it, load the bike while there is still light and energy, and go home with the day's good memories intact rather than a crash at the end of it.
Fitment and Compatibility
Three entries on Accossato's list lead to this cap: the Super Duke 1290 R with ABS from 2014 to 2016, a further entry for the 2016 model, and the SE of 2016 with ABS. We therefore list the FC116 for the 1290 Super Duke R of 2014 to 2016. Later model years are not part of these entries, so check your bike's year before ordering, or ask us.
Road Approval
The FC116 comes with no German ABE and no documented parts certificate, so we sell it for the circuit. The Super Duke's standard cap normally locks with the ignition key; for public roads, it goes back on.
