DescriptionThe whole story▼
Rain changes how the left hand works. A waterproof glove is thicker and stiffer than a summer one, painted road markings turn slippery, and the moment the clutch starts to bite becomes the moment the rear tyre is most likely to step out of line. The Accossato ESV004 is a clutch lever for the Aprilia Tuono 660 of 2021 to 2024, CNC-machined from aluminium and fitted at the original clutch mounting, with a span that can be set to suit whichever glove the weather calls for.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Aprilia Tuono 660, listed from 2021 to 2024
- Fits the original clutch mounting of the bike
- Span adjuster beside the pivot
- Seven blade colours on a black anodised hub
- Standard length about 138 mm; short and long blades in selected colours
- Machined from solid aluminium
- No hinge: one continuous blade
- No German ABE documented, for track use
Construction and Material Quality
An anodised finish suits a lever that spends time in the wet. The process converts the outer layer of the aluminium into oxide rather than laying paint on top, so there is no coating for water to creep under and lift. Before that stage, the ESV004 is shaped on CNC machines from a solid piece of metal. Its hub, carrying the pivot and the span adjuster, is black whatever colour you pick for the blade: black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green. Blade and hub are one part, with no folding joint between them.
Pulling Away When the Road Is Wet
Most low-speed slides in the rain happen in the first metres after a stop: a white line under the rear tyre, slightly too much throttle and a clutch released a fraction too quickly. On the Tuono 660 the remedy lies in patience at the left hand. Move off with modest revs, let the clutch out over a longer movement than you would on a dry day, and keep it in the friction zone until the bike is rolling straight on clean tarmac. That long, even release is far easier when the lever sits where a thick glove can hold it without strain. Wind the adjuster outwards for winter or rain gloves, so the blade does not press on the fingers before the take-up begins, and bring it back in when the thin gloves return. The long blade, available in blue, gold, green and orange, gives the fingers a longer path through the engagement, which some riders find calmer in the wet.
Fitment and Compatibility
Only one version of the Tuono 660 appears for the ESV004, covering the model years 2021 to 2024, and the lever replaces the Aprilia part at the bike's own clutch mount. On the other side of the handlebar, the EDF099 brake lever is listed for exactly the same bikes. Short blades are offered in blue, gold, green, orange and silver; black and red come as standard-length levers only, the standard size measuring about 138 mm.
Road Approval
This clutch lever comes without a documented German ABE and is therefore sold for track use.
