Sprint Filter's T12 is usually the exception in a range — the medium bought for a specific fortnight rather than for a year. On the 701 Enduro it comes closer to being the default, and the catalogue says so in the plainest way available to it. The standard element for this airbox is listed against three machines, including the KTM 690 that shares the housing. PM74T12 is listed against two, the 701 Enduro and the 701 Supermoto, and nothing else. A short fitment list is not an oversight; it is about as near as a parts catalogue ever comes to a recommendation.
Key Features
- Dry polyester speciality nonwoven, used without oil of any kind
- Filtration 7 microns; flow 560 litres per square metre per second
- Around twice the filtering area of other performance filters
- Holds its load through the depth of the material rather than on a face
- Fits the production airbox directly: no modification, no remapping
- Two years of warranty from the purchase date
Seven microns and what they cost
The T12 filters at 7 microns and passes 560 litres per square metre per second. The standard weave in the same housing filters at 80 microns and passes 5,050. That is roughly a ninth of the flow, the widest trade the range contains, and it is paid on every ride including the ones with nothing at all in the air. What it buys is retention of a fraction no other medium here reaches, and on a machine that spends its days in its own dust and other people's, that fraction is not hypothetical. This is a trade and not a promotion: the T12 is not a better filter than the standard element, it is a filter for different air.
What the flow figure is and is not
Both numbers are rates per square metre of clean material, which means they compare media and nothing else. The element's actual area is not published, so 560 against 5,050 cannot be turned into litres per minute at your airbox, and it cannot be read as a share of engine output either. Nor does any element inside a standard housing make a standard 701 noticeably stronger. What the pair of figures honestly supports is a choice between two materials for the same box — and on a bike used as an enduro, the finer one is the defensible pick more often than not.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air through the element from the clean side outwards; on a depth medium this matters more than usual, because air driven the wrong way pushes the load further in. Warm water and a mild detergent when air has stopped working, then a thorough rinse. Dry in moving air only — never with a heat gun or a flame — and allow proper time for it, since a fine medium holds water longer than a weave. Refit dry, with nothing oiled. Sprint Filter's maintenance sheet for PM74T12 is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
For the Husqvarna 701 Enduro built between 2016 and 2026. This code covers two machines, the 701 Enduro and the 701 Supermoto, and the Fitment tab lists both. The KTM 690 SMC R / Enduro R shares the same airbox but is not catalogued for the T12; it appears on the standard element instead.
