The airbox under a Scrambler 800 also serves a Monster 1200. Sprint Filter's list for this housing runs from a 400 at one end to a 1200 at the other, three times the displacement, and an element has to be drawn around the largest engine that will ever ask it for air. On an 800 that reserve is inherited for nothing. It is also the reason the reduced flow rating of a fine medium is a cheaper thing to accept here than on most of the machines it is offered to.
Key Features
- Dry special nonwoven filtering to 14 microns, the fine-dust grade for the Scrambler's airbox
- Rated at 1,800 litres per square metre per second; the standard woven panel, 5,050
- Roughly twice the filtering area of a conventional performance element
- A single element, fitted where the paper panel sits: no airbox work, no remap
- Never oiled, wet or dry, so nothing can be carried downstream onto the intake sensors
- Washed and refitted rather than discarded; two-year warranty from purchase
A ladder with nothing above it
This housing is catalogued without a racing specification at all. Where Ducati's superbike airboxes list a high-flow racing weave above the standard part, the Scrambler's has nothing there: the 80-micron panel at 5,050 litres per square metre per second is the top of the range, and every other option offered for it is finer and slower. This element is the first step down, at 14 microns and 1,800. Read whole, the range expects these machines to meet dust rather than sustained full throttle — which for a Scrambler is a fair description of a Sunday.
Where the reserve goes
Because the element was sized for a much larger twin, the 800 was never short of intake capacity to begin with, and giving up a good two thirds of the rated flow costs it less than the same decision costs a bigger engine. That is a reason to consider the finer grade, not a promise about it. Nothing that slots into a standard airbox makes a standard Scrambler stronger — this hands back headroom to hold more back, and the honest gains are a restriction that drifts less between services and a panel that is cleaned instead of replaced.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air does the work. Apply it to the clean face and push outward so the dust leaves the way it entered; a dry nonwoven gives most of it back. Where the load has gone greasy, lukewarm water and a mild detergent lift it, then rinse until the water runs clear. Drying takes place in circulating air at room temperature only, never with heat and never near a flame, and the CM61P14 is refitted dry with nothing applied. Sprint Filter's maintenance sheet sits in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Listed for the Ducati Scrambler 800 built from 2015 to 2023. Three more machines carry this code: the Hypermotard 939 of 2016–2018, the Hypermotard 950 / SP of 2019–2025 and the Monster 1200 25° Anniversario of 2019 — four entries under one part number. The Scrambler 400 that shares the same housing is not among them; it is catalogued for the standard panel only. Order on the code and the year.
