The element sits out of sight, the injection trims around a rising restriction long before the throttle hand notices, and no roadworthiness test looks inside an airbox. So it is judged by the calendar or not at all — and on a machine that covers big distances the calendar moves quickly. Route matters more than the odometer: sustained motorway load pulls fine dust deep into any medium, and loose surfaces are a different problem again. If an XT genuinely lives on dust and gravel, the T12 is made for that air, filtering at 7 µm and flowing 560 l\/m²\/sec against the P08's 80 µm and 5,050 — finer holds more and flows less, a trade rather than an upgrade.
