Three WorldSBK kits are listed for MV Agusta's 1000 range, and one of them behaves quite differently from the other two. The P08 and F1-85 versions each cover eight machines, from the F4 of 2013 through to the Rush of 2026. R189S-WP-SBK covers one: the F4 built between 2013 and 2015, and nothing else. What one entry means, and what it does not

It means the catalogue specifies this assembly against one airbox and makes no claim past it. It does not mean the machines missing from the list are somehow unsuited to a wet-weather cloth — they are simply not listed under this number, and a listing is a commitment rather than an opinion. So order against the fitment that exists: MV Agusta F4, 2013 to 2015. An F4R, F4RR, F4RC, Brutale or Rush is served by the two sibling numbers instead, and the difference between them is the cloth, not the frame.

A weather medium inside a race construction

The two halves of this part come from different worlds and the combination is worth stating precisely. The frame and build are the racing half: carbon fibre, constant tension on the medium, made for something that comes out and goes back in repeatedly. The cloth is the weather half. At 37 µm it is far tighter than the standard 80 µm weave, and it gives up flow to get there, 4,500 against 5,050 l/m²/sec. Tighter holds more and passes less; that is a trade and not a rank. What none of it does is add power. An element in an unmodified airbox will not make a standard F4 stronger, whatever it is made of. It also asks about a fifth more than the P08 version of the same kit.

Care and cleaning

R189S-WP-SBK is looked after exactly as the dry media around it are. Compressed air on the clean face, worked outward, so that what the cloth held leaves the way it entered. Where a wet winter has left more than air will lift, warm water with a mild washing-up detergent will finish it, followed by a rinse until nothing further comes out. Drying happens in open air and takes as long as it takes — no hot air gun, no radiator, no naked flame, because heat is what ruins polyester and the finish does not protect it from that.
