DescriptionThe whole story▼
Akrapovic says something unusual about this silencer: the engineers aimed to keep the sound level from spoiling a long trip. On a tourer that is the correct goal, and it is worth more than another decibel of drama would be. An RT covers four hundred kilometres in a day and the rider has to still like the noise at the end of it.
Key Features
- 2.73 kg against a standard 4.2 — 1.5 kg and 35 per cent gone
- EC and ECE type approved
- Double-flow muffler with a coated titanium sleeve and an engraved logo
- Handmade carbon fibre end cap
- Plug and play in twenty minutes, with no remapping required
- Compatible with the BMW Motorrad side cases
- Sound tuned for long distances rather than for volume
A Kilogram and a Half, High Up
Thirty-five per cent off the exhaust of a motorcycle that weighs about 281 kg ready to ride. As a fraction of the whole it is small. Where it comes from is what makes it worth having: the silencer of an RT sits high and well behind the rear axle, which is the least useful place on any motorcycle to carry mass.
Loaded with luggage and a passenger, an RT is already at its limit for how much weight sits behind the rider. Taking a kilo and a half out of exactly that spot is a real improvement, even if the scales barely notice.
The Numbers Are Honest and Small
Power rises by 0.5 kW, which is 0.7 hp, at 7,700 rpm. Torque gains 1.1 Nm at 2,500 rpm, while the recorded peak of 145.8 Nm sits two tenths below the standard 146. Akrapovic publishes both, and so does this page.
Nobody buys a slip-on for a 143 PS boxer to gain seven tenths of a horsepower. This is a weight, sound and appearance product, and the dyno figures are there for completeness.
Twenty Minutes and Nothing Else
The shortest fitting time in this group. Plug and play, no remapping, no ECU work, no dyno booking. A dealer can do it while the customer waits, and the type approval means there is no paperwork afterwards either.
A Double-Flow Muffler
Two gas paths inside one casing, which is how Akrapovic gets a full sound out of a silencer that still has to meet a type approval limit. The outer sleeve is coated titanium — sandblasted and treated so it cleans easily and does not discolour — with the Akrapovic logo engraved rather than stuck on.
The profiled surface is not decoration. It stiffens a thin titanium wall, which is what lets the sleeve be as light as it is.
Panniers Still Fit
Akrapovic confirms compatibility with the BMW Motorrad side cases. On an RT that is not a nice-to-have; the bike exists to carry luggage, and a silencer that made the right-hand case unusable would be pointless.
A New Motorcycle
BMW replaced the R 1250 RT for 2025 with the 1,300 cc engine and a new frame. The RT is a machine people keep for years and specify carefully, and this is one of the first titanium options available for it.
Road Approval
EC and ECE type approved. No entry in the vehicle documents is required.
