DescriptionThe whole story▼
Black oxidation keeps the PZ016 understated at the rear of the bike, where a caliper is less often the centre of attention than the matching unit up front. The caliper is a rear-only axial design, built to an 84 mm distance between mounting centres and a 16 mm offset, with two 34 mm aluminium pistons, a dust seal and a pair of AGPA42 organic pads fitted from the factory rather than ordered as an extra.
Key Features
- CNC-made rear axial brake caliper, 84 mm mounting centres
- Offset 16 mm
- Two aluminium pistons, 34 mm diameter
- Dust seal fitted as standard
- Two AGPA42 brake pads, organic compound, included
- Black oxidation finish
- Listed for 51 models in our garage, see the Fitment tab
- 77 individual applications recorded in the fitment tab
Construction and Material Quality
The body starts as an aluminium billet, shaped on CNC machining centres into the finished rear caliper rather than cast in a mould, with the two 34 mm pistons and the dust seal fitted once the cutting work is finished. Black oxidation is the coating applied at the very end of the process, after the pistons, seal and AGPA42 pads are already in place, and it sits on top of the same body used for the caliper's six other colour options.
Fitting and Bleeding the Rear Brake
Swapping in a PZ016 means disconnecting the rear brake line, removing the old caliper from its mount, and bleeding the system once the new unit is torqued into place; because the pads arrive already fitted in the organic compound, there is no separate pad order to plan around before the job starts. A rear brake is still part of the overall braking system even though it does less of the stopping than the front, so having the work done and the lines bled by a qualified workshop remains worthwhile rather than something to leave half finished.
Fitment and Compatibility
The PZ016 is listed for 51 models in our garage, see the Fitment tab, including the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory, Tuono V4 1100, and the Ducati Hypermotard 821 and 939, with 77 fitment applications recorded across these and other machines. A workshop fitting the caliper to a model not on that list should confirm the 84 mm mounting centres and 16 mm offset against the rear disc and mount already in place first.
Road Approval
Accossato does not supply ABE documentation for the PZ016, so fitting it to a road-registered motorcycle in place of the original rear caliper is subject to registration with the responsible authority beforehand. Replacing a brake caliper is always safety-relevant work, so having it fitted and bled by a qualified workshop is strongly recommended.
Scope of Delivery
1x Accossato PZ016 rear axial brake caliper in black oxidation, with two AGPA42 brake pads in the organic compound already fitted.
