DescriptionThe whole story▼
Not every Kawasaki Eliminator 500 SE is ridden every day. Many spend the working week in a garage and come out at weekends when the weather is right, and a bike that stands still for weeks develops a quiet problem on its rear disc: a rust ring where the pads have been resting. For the Eliminator 500 SE of 2024 and 2025, Accossato lists the DK271, a fixed rear disc in one piece, 220 mm in diameter and 5 mm thick, with three holes of 10.5 mm on a 120 mm circle.
Key Features
- Rear brake disc for the Kawasaki Eliminator 500 SE, 2024 and 2025
- Fixed one-piece disc, steel-made in the supplier's words
- 220 mm outer and 100 mm inner diameter
- 5 mm thickness
- Three holes of 10.5 mm on a 120 mm pitch circle
- Interchangeable with the original equipment disc according to Accossato
- Minimum thickness printed on the disc
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato makes the DK271 as a fixed disc without rivets or a separate carrier, and the supplier describes it as steel-made. It is 5 mm thick, with a 100 mm centre and three 10.5 mm holes for fixing. Accossato attributes the braking performance of its discs to design, choice of material and tolerances developed with knowledge from Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3. Each disc shows the thickness at which it must be replaced, so the check needs nothing more than a measuring tool and a minute of time.
A Rust Ring Where the Pads Rest
Steel brake discs rust when they are left damp, and the area under the pads rusts differently from the rest because moisture is trapped there. After a few weeks, a parked bike can show a distinct band on the disc exactly where the pads sat. Usually it disappears after a few gentle stops. If the bike stands for months in a damp garage, though, the band can eat into the surface and leave a patch that grips differently from the rest of the disc, which you feel as a pulse in the pedal.
Prevention is easier than cure. Park the Eliminator 500 SE somewhere dry, and after a wet ride take it for a short spin and use both brakes before putting it away so the discs dry off. If you wash the bike, finish with a ride rather than parking it wet. For longer breaks, move the bike a little every few weeks so the pads rest on a different part of the disc. After storage, make the first stops gently to clear the surface film. If the pedal still pulses after a few rides, look closely at the disc: pitting in one area is a reason to measure it and possibly to replace it.
Fitment and Compatibility
On Accossato's list, the DK271 covers the rear wheel of the Kawasaki Eliminator 500 SE in 2024 and 2025. It replaces the original rear disc, and the bike carries only one. Compare the new disc with the old one before fitting, especially the three fixing holes and the centre bore, and fit new pads so that the two can bed in together. The disc bolts are tightened to Kawasaki's figure for the Eliminator 500 SE.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no type approval are documented for the DK271. For the Eliminator 500 SE, a road bike, that means the disc is intended for closed tracks only.
Scope of Delivery
One DK271 disc for the rear wheel. No fixings or pads included.
