DescriptionThe whole story▼
The KTM 200 EXC has long had a loyal following among riders of tight, technical enduro. Its two-stroke engine offers more pull than a 125 and a lighter feel than a 250, and that balance suits ground where the bike must be lifted over obstacles rather than simply ridden across them. Rock steps are the classic example, and getting up one is mostly done with the clutch. Accossato lists its C7284, CNC-machined from Ergal 7075 in Italy, as the folding clutch lever for the 200 EXC of 2009 to 2016.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the KTM 200 EXC, 2009 to 2016
- Listed by Accossato for the 2009–2013 and 2014–2016 versions
- Replaces the standard lever at the original clutch fitting
- Long blade, room for four fingers
- Anti-break joint lets the blade swing forward in a fall
- Milled from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Black, blue or orange blade, dark base
- No German ABE documented; for off-road and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The C7284 is milled, not cast: Accossato starts with solid Ergal 7075, an aluminium alloy of high strength, and shapes it on CNC machines in Italy, looking for a lever that is light, strong and reliable. It has two parts. The base, dark in colour, stays on the pivot of the clutch fitting and contains the joint. The blade, black, blue or orange, is attached to it and can fold forward when struck. As a clutch lever it is drawn long, with space for four fingers to pull together.
Clutch Up the Ledge
A rock step too high to ride straight up is climbed in two movements. First the front wheel is lifted onto the ledge with a blip of throttle and a quick release of the clutch. Then, as the rear tyre meets the face of the rock, the rider unweights the back of the bike and gives a second, sharper pop of the clutch, so the rear wheel drives up and over the edge. Timing is everything: too early and the rear bounces off, too late and the bike stalls against the rock with the rider off balance.
Failed attempts are part of learning the move, and they rarely end neatly. The 200 EXC rolls back, the rider steps off, and the bike topples, often onto its left side and often against the very rock it was meant to climb. That puts the clutch lever between the machine and a hard edge. A solid blade can snap in that moment; the C7284's joint gives it the chance to fold forward instead. It will not come through every fall, but on a day spent practising ledges, keeping a working clutch can be the difference between another attempt and a long push home.
Fitment and Compatibility
In Accossato's list, the C7284 covers the KTM 200 EXC from 2009 to 2016, split into two version groups, 2009 to 2013 and 2014 to 2016, and replaces the stock lever at the original clutch fitting on both. The matching folding brake lever, B8283, is listed for the 2014 to 2016 bikes only, in black, blue or orange, so an earlier 200 EXC can be fitted with the clutch lever alone.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the C7284. The 200 EXC is a road-registered enduro, but this lever is not approved for public roads; it is intended for off-road riding and competition.
