DescriptionThe whole story▼
Getting your body off the seat of an Aprilia RSV4 feels easy on the first lap of a track day and much harder on the fifteenth, when your thighs are burning and every corner still asks you to move your hips across. How smoothly that goes depends a great deal on where your feet sit. Accossato's FT002 is an adjustable racing street rearset for the RSV4 of 2011 and 2012 and for the Racing Factory LE that Accossato lists from 2015 to 2019. Made of aluminium, it places the feet further back than the original footrests and keeps the standard shift pattern.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato, founded in Moncalieri near Turin in 1969, calls the design of this rearset simple and functional, and the FT002 lives up to that description. It is made of aluminium, and the attention goes to the places your boots touch. The footpegs and the tips of both levers are knurled, a fine machined texture that lets a sole find purchase instead of sliding over smooth metal. Behind the pegs, aluminium plates act as heel guards. The red version adds coloured details to an otherwise black kit, while the black version stays dark from end to end.
Hanging Off Starts at the Footpeg
Watch a quick rider on an RSV4 through a long right-hander and the body position looks relaxed: hips shifted to the inside, upper body low, inside knee pointing towards the kerb. The work behind that picture happens at the feet. The inside foot rests on the peg with the ball of the foot, so the toe of the boot stays clear of the tarmac and the leg can rotate outwards. The outside leg presses its knee into the side of the tank and carries much of the rider's weight, which leaves the arms free to steer instead of holding the body up. Many riders find that feet placed further back make this easier to set up, because the hips can slide across the seat without the knees jamming against the tank. The knurling helps the ball of the foot stay where you placed it as the bike tips in. On the way out of the corner, the left foot has to find the gear lever for the next upshift, and a knurled tip is easier to locate by feel than a smooth one.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato names three RSV4 versions for the FT002: the RSV4 1000 APRC R and the Factory APRC in standard and SE form, both for 2011 and 2012, and the Racing Factory LE from 2015 to 2019. The 2013 and 2014 model years do not appear on that list, and we would not assume a fit for them. On the covered bikes the kit takes the place of the original footrest assemblies. Because gear and brake linkages are affected, a specialist workshop should fit it, set pedal and lever heights for your boots and confirm that the brake light comes on as soon as you press the pedal.
Road Approval
We have no German ABE or parts certificate (Teilegutachten) on record for the FT002, so we sell this rearset for track riding on the RSV4 and not for public roads.
