Sprint Filter PM127P14 air filter

The facts.

DescriptionThe whole story▼

A good many people reach for a fine air filter because their motorcycle lives outdoors and rides through bad weather, and wet is the one condition this element was not designed around. Sprint Filter's answer to water is the P037, a water-repellent weave rated at 37 microns and 4,500 l/m²/sec. PM127P14 is the dust answer: 14 microns, 1,800 l/m²/sec, and no repellent treatment anywhere in it.

Key Features

  • Dry non-woven material, supplied unoiled and kept that way for good
  • A 14-micron rating — the finest medium Sprint Filter catalogues for the Scrambler 1100 at all
  • 1,800 l/m²/sec of rated flow, well below the 5,050 of the standard cloth
  • Slots into the unmodified airbox in place of the paper panel, mapping untouched
  • Blown clean and reused season after season instead of discarded
  • Two-year guarantee from the purchase date

Dust and water are separate problems

They are solved by different properties. Fine dust is answered by structure — a finer path through the medium, which is what the 14-micron rating describes. Standing water and spray are answered by chemistry, by a treatment that keeps the fabric from wetting out, which is what the P037 has and this mat does not. Buying the finest rating on the shelf as insurance against rain is a common mistake, and here it cannot even be made: the water-repellent medium is not catalogued for this airbox, so no part number on this bike's list answers that question.

Where the Scrambler 1100 really sits

Most of them see both. An air-cooled twin used on back roads in summer meets genuine dust — field edges, quarry approaches, dry gravel car parks — and the same motorcycle gets ridden home in October rain. If the dry half dominates your year, this mat is the sensible fit and the flow it costs is not being asked for at Scrambler road speeds. If the wet half dominates, no filter in the range is the answer to it — that is a job for storage, covers and the drain in the airbox, and none of it will make the bike faster than Ducati built it.

Care and cleaning

Take the element out, put an air line to the clean face and blow outward until nothing more lifts away. Where a summer of dry back roads has loaded it more deeply, wash it: warm water, mild detergent, rinsed until the water leaves clean, then dried in open air and only in open air. Heaters, hot-air guns and flames are what genuinely kill these elements. PM127P14 goes back dry, with no dressing to apply. The maker's servicing leaflet is stored in the Downloads tab.

Fitment & Compatibility

For the Ducati Scrambler 1100 built between 2018 and 2024. The element is shared by eleven Ducati models; the Fitment tab lists every one of them.
