Note the date and the odometer when the panel goes in, and clean it on a schedule set for the roads you ride, not on a glance. That is a schedule a washable element can actually keep, because sticking to it costs nothing but an air line and half an hour; with a disposable panel, the same discipline means buying something every time, which is precisely why it is never kept. A clean also returns this element to a known starting condition, so the schedule has a fixed reference point.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eWhat the airflow figure does not promise\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eThree times the flow rate of the standard medium describes the cloth, not the motorcycle, and a drop-in element does not make a standard ZZR 1400 noticeably stronger. The rate is a capacity per square metre measured on a bench; what an engine actually draws is set by its displacement, its timing and how far the throttles are open. So the honest reason to choose this medium is a duty cycle that repeatedly asks for everything the intake can supply, backed by race-style servicing. For a fast road machine, the standard P08 in the same shape is the better-matched half of the pairing.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eCare and cleaning\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eClean the panel dry wherever possible: compressed air on the clean face, the nozzle kept moving and held far enough back that the weave is not driven into itself. Where a wash is unavoidable, use lukewarm water with a little mild detergent and rinse until nothing further comes out. Dry it fully in moving air, never with heat or a flame, and refit it dry and untreated. Do this more often than the service book implies; the appearance will not prompt you.
