Where the Power Arrives

Spark quotes a specific figure rather than a peak: plus 2,5 hp at 4.500 rpm, measured on a motorcycle in completely original configuration with only the silencer changed. On a big adventure twin that engine speed is where the machine actually lives — loaded, two-up, on a mountain road.

Spark had the durability testing run for months on the machines of Stefano Sacchini of Adventure School. That is a harder environment than a dyno cell: the same motorcycles, ridden by learners, dropped regularly, and worked at low speed and high load for hours.

Spark's own summary is that the durability test was largely overcome — a careful phrase, and more honest than a claim of indestructibility.

Built Around the Emissions Rules

Spark describes the silencer as the result of long research to reconcile design with the internal volumes the current emissions regulations demand. That is the constraint that shapes a modern homologated silencer: the case has to be big enough inside and still look like something a customer wants.
