Over the Swingarm

A silencer mounted high and to the rear needs the pipe to climb, and the climb has to start after the swingarm pivot and finish before the shock. Forty-five degrees is the standard first move: steep enough to gain height in the space available, shallow enough that the sweep still clears the pivot.

The second forty-five levels the run out at silencer height. Between them they are most of an underseat or high-mount route.

Sweep Radius at Sixty

Centreline radius grows with diameter, so a sixty millimetre bend takes noticeably more room than a forty at the same angle. On a build where the pipe passes between the swingarm and the frame, that extra sweep is usually the constraint — and it is easier to discover on paper than with a saw.

The Spark Silencer Diameter

Sixty millimetres is the inlet of the universal Force Evo G00SI23T, the Konix Evo G00SI25T, the Grid-O G00SI26T and the Megaphone cases. A run built in this size arrives at a Spark silencer without an adapter, which removes both a part and a joint from the system.

Handling a Large Thin Bend

One millimetre of wall at sixty millimetres dents from a dropped tool and goes oval under a vice. Support it along its length when cutting and clamp only on the straight tangents.

Purge, Properly

A large-bore curved joint takes longer to fill with argon than a small straight one, and a bend can hold a pocket of air at its high point. Give it more time than feels necessary — oxidation inside a bend cannot be seen and cannot be dressed out.
