Genuine LS2 chin bar ratchet system and visor support for the FF901 Advant X, part 800901CBR01. This is the detented mechanism that holds the outer visor at each of its open positions and carries the visor's pivot — supplied as a pair, left and right, with the screws.
It is the part that fails first on any helmet with a stepped visor. The detents are small plastic teeth working against a spring, cycled several times an hour, in a place that collects road grit and gets washed with detergent. When they round off, the visor stops holding position: it either creeps shut in the wind or drops closed under braking. Neither is dangerous immediately, and both are extremely irritating.
Replacing them takes a screwdriver and about ten minutes. Do both sides even if only one has failed — they wear at the same rate, and a fresh detent working against a worn one will not hold evenly. Because these also carry the visor pivot, a worn set is often the real cause of a visor that will not seal against the shell.
