DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 030 takes the F800GS's activated carbon filter out and closes the circuit properly behind it.
Key Features
- BMW F800GS (2008–2026)
- Removes the activated carbon filter and its lines
- Vents the tank through a correct fitting
- Closes the purge valve circuit
- Clears the space the assembly occupied
- Standard parts refit at any time
A Twenty-One Inch Front
Spoked wheels, long travel and a chain rather than a belt. The F800GS was the version BMW built for riders who genuinely left tarmac, and it has a following that reflects that.
Preparation Is Normal Here
Owners of these bikes fit protection, change tyres and remove what will not survive a week away. A plastic vessel on three hoses is on that list every time.
Carbon With a Shelf Life
The bed absorbs until it is full and then releases as the engine draws on it. Nothing in the service book renews it, so on a high-mileage bike it is often long past doing anything useful.
Where a Rock Reaches
Anything mounted low and outboard of the swingarm pivot is exposed on a bike ridden where the F800GS is ridden. Owners who have lost a hose to a stump do not need convincing.
Chain Rather Than Belt
The GS took a chain where the road-going 800s used a toothed belt, because a belt does not survive stones and mud. It is the clearest single sign of what BMW intended this version for.
The Vent Is Part of the Kit
It is not an afterthought. Getting the tank breathing correctly is the difference between a tidy conversion and a fuel smell in the garage.
Nothing Stored
Because the circuit is satisfied rather than suppressed, no code waits in memory for the next diagnostic session to find.
Not on Every Bike
BMW fitted the system only in markets requiring it. An imported GS may already be without it and the tank area is worth a look before ordering.
Before a Sale
Anyone selling the motorcycle on can put the original assembly back and hand over a bike that looks untouched, because it is.
The Inspection Question
Where periodic testing covers emissions equipment, an absent canister is a straightforward failure. Refitting it beforehand is the answer.
A Short Parts List
Canister, bracket, hoses, clips and valve. It takes longer to describe than to remove.
